In addition to expanding our presence on our North Salem property, D.I.G. Farm is so excited to be a part of programs within our community!

This year we teamed up with Westchester Land Trust (WLT) and The Community Center of Northern Westchester to grow vegetables for our neighbors in need.  Nearly 2,000 families from 36 Westchester communities relied on The Community Center in 2018 for more than 119,000 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables, half of which were grown locally. Allison will manage WLT's Sugar Hill Farm this growing season and recently helped coordinate a corporate volunteer day with Morgan...

For more then 30 years Farm Aid has been standing tall to support family farmers. Farm Aid works year round to build a system of agriculture that values family farmers, good food, soil and water, as well as building strong communities. The annual music festival celebrates farmers, eaters and music coming together for change!

Hartford CT is host to this years Farm Aid and we at DIG Farm could not be more elated at how close the event will be on Saturday. As always an amazing line up of performers will be there to support this farm-tastic event. Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave...

So here we find ourselves in the third month of our Farmers Market at Preston High School in Throggs Neck and it has been a fantastic experience. Organic farmer 'DIGs' growth on Ice Pond Farm, by Jodi Weinberger, editor.

A Starbucks barista with a dream of having her own organic farm has found a home on Dick Button's North Salem oasis.

Allison Turcan is about as loyal as it gets when it comes to Starbucks.  She had worked her way up to store manager of the chain coffee shop in Mamaroneck, when she decided to take advantage of the company's aptly-named "coffee break," a program that allows employees who've been with the store for a decade to take a year of unpaid leave knowing there's a job waiting for them on the other side

Following her passion for...

Hey there DIG-gers hope everyone out there is enjoying their summer! We at DIG Farm have been busy little bees. So let's take a bit of time to catch up!

First things first, it's very important to start out by expressing how grateful DIG is for all of the wonderful volunteers we have helping us to achieve our mission! There are so many amazing like minded people that help in a multitude of different ways to support DIG in moving forward each and everyday, thank you with all our hearts. We also had a fantastic new group of Volunteers come to the farm this past Thursday from Morgan Stan...

This past Tuesday blessed us with a picturesque day down by the waterfront at Preston High School for the Grand Opening of the North East Bronx Farmers Market. We at DIG Farm are so excited and grateful to be apart of this weekly local market this summer and well into the fall months. Okay so lets just get right to it! There was something for everyone on Tuesday, from all natural locally handcrafted pet treats from Pet Wants to homemade accessories by OffDaBolt. Keep in mind its early in the growing season, part of the beauty of farmers markets is being able to shop with the growing season. Havin...

Hey there DIG-gers! It's been awhile since I've shared the dirt with everyone about what we've been up to and also how you can get in on what's coming!

First let us catch up on the happenings at Hawtree Creek Middle School in Queens. We have said it before, but I have to put it out there that we absolutely love working with these kids and the faculty! We are moving quickly into our third year and we couldn't be happier about it. Last month the kids got their hands dirty mixing in organic compost to the raised beds and they planted with lots of heart and soul, seriously what more could you as...

Spring is finally in the air and although here in New York Mother Nature has still given us a bit of hesitation due to random snow, preparation for planting is in effect everywhere. Seedlings are sprouting and awaiting their new homes in the earth, while farmers prepare their plots big and small with excitement of the pending growing season. With that being said there is no lack of excitement emanating from DIG Farm right now either. After having such an amazing support last year, building relationships with a variety of wonderful individuals and groups alike and just really bein...
