Greetings to all you DIG-gers out there! What an amazing summer its been so far and how quickly its flying by is crazy. So here we find ourselves in the third month of our Farmers Market at Preston High School in Throggs Neck and it has been a fantastic experience. We have built so many new relationships with like minded individuals of both the community and other local farmers, purveyors. Thanks to all who show up every week to be apart of this market and support local farmers and businesses, no matter what side of the table your standing on what you do makes a difference!
This past Wednesday we were in the Bronx at the Eat NYC Food & Wine Festival for our third year and as always an outstanding positive vibe coursed through this event. An evening of energy was loaded with local restaurants, wine makers, craftsman of everything from hot sauce to hand rolled cigars. Even us farmers were there making moves at the Hip Hop for hunger event of the season. Several designers gave the crowd a glimpse of their fashion styling with Aval & Co Runway Productions. Proceeded by several performers just killin' it on stage! On top of all that we met and talked with so many new people, all of which showed us nothing but love and support. Gratitude to all who attended this event, especially those that made their way to our tent, some much positive feed back and interest was fantastic. We look forward to sharing our harvest, ideas and goals for this great cause again next year. If you have yet to attend there is always next year, get your tickets early in 2019.
With all that being said about what we have been up to most recently off the farm and our thankfulness and gratitude well placed, let's talk about whats coming up. First don't forget to join us on HudsonRiverRadio.com at 6 p.m. this and every Monday night where we will be "Getting Dirty" live, discussing a different topic every week and ready to answer all your questions . Tuesday we will be in our spot on the back patio of Preston High School from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a variety of organic produce and products harvested and made fresh from our farm to your table. We look forward to seeing everyone there! We are wrapping our week up with back to back fundraisers right on the farm!! Friday night from 6 p.m to 10 p.m. we are having an end of August BBQ and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. another of our Farm to table brunches, to be honest the farm fresh frittata and baked french toast casserole should be enough to entice any foodie! The BBQ is a laid back vibe, enjoying our harvest with good people and good music while the sunsets on the inspiring property we are so blessed to help care for. On Sunday during the brunch we are honored to provide a tour of Dick Button's gardens, they are breath taking to behold, a wonderment at times to find yourself completely present in the moment and surrounded by absolute beauty. These fundraisers help to support DIG Farm in moving forward with it's goals, but it also helps us give people a real chance to reconnect to the natural good of the farm. We believe this is good for your mind, body and soul. You can find the link to the tickets on the home page of the website Digfarm.org, as well as on our Facebook page at Facebook/digfarm.
Come out next weekend and get connected!
